Pretty Little Things: Not Just For The Birds

No longer just for birds, Birdcages have long been popping up all over weddings. As decor, on stationary and the ever popular Birdcage veils. One of the great things about birdcages are the options to customize it so it is right for your event. You can:
  • cover/decorate with lace, tulle, or other finishing elements
  • fill with candles, flowers, or photos for alternative to the usual vase centerpiece
  • spray paint the cage in a color that compliments your occasion
  • choose a very simple or ornate style cage; one the suits the style of the event you are having
  • hang several birdcages from ceilings or outside branches/trees for an added decorative element

The birdcage may not work for EVERY event, but if it does, it's nice to know there are many ways in which to incorporate it.

What it's all about...

This has been a really challenging year. I mean reeeeeally challenging year. But isn't that what life is about? You have your good, your bad, your ups, your downs, your easy goings and your challenges. So as challenging as it may have been I know it isn't more than I can handle. And on this upcoming Thanksgiving holiday I stand (okay well sit) before you and profess that I am thankful for all life has afforded me. I am thankful for the good, the bad, the ups, the downs, the easy goings and the challenges. I am equally thankful for:
  • God: He never leaves my side
  • My family: For being as loud and as loving as only they can be
  • My new goddaughter: For being so darn cute
  • YOU...my readers, supporters and friends: For taking this journey with me
  • The "anonymous" reader: For those encouraging comments on my blog posts
  • My Mac: Lord knows I needed an upgrade
  • My clients, past present and future: For entrusting their most special day to JunePlumm Events
  • Opportunity: Because every challenge presents a new one
  • Tomorrow: Another opportunity to be reminded of how much I have to be thankful for

Celebrate and Enjoy!

Parties: The Wedding Salon: Novemeber 2010

I had to pleasure of attending The Wedding Salon yesterday ( 11-15-10) held at The Manhattan Center Studios on 34th street in Manhattan. I have attended many other Wedding Salons in the past because I just love to meet all the vendors, sample the goodies and see the gorgeous tablescapes. now this year it seemed a bit smaller and not as many vendors as before BUT I did have a great time especially experiencing it with a newbie ( my 2011 bride).

Some of my stand out faves were the violinist/aerialist (amazing) , the Tequila Avion (delish) and Shawn Rabideau (uber sweet)

In case you missed it, here are a few of the sights you would have seen:

Bridal Envy: The Conclusion

I truly hope you enjoyed your preview into the Fall 2011 collections as I did. There were many shapes and style and colors to choose from which will certainly make for a very hard decision for you shopping brides. So to pass on a bit of advice to help make the decision easier:
  • Choose a dress that is right for YOU
  • Do not be afraid to try on dresses that you never thought would look good on you: You just never know
  • Bring your personality out in your dress
  • Ensure your bridal gown fits the style, formality and location of the wedding: They should be beautifully cohesive, not fashionably awkward
  • Carry your shoes with the same height as the shoes you will wear on your wedding day
  • Wear proper undergarments: "Control" is your friend
  • Hook up the "do"
  • Make-up is a must
  • Leave the entourage at home: Take key people that are supportive but honest ( in a delicate way). Too many people mean to many people to please.
  • Do NOT over shop
  • Bring samples of dresses that appeal to you: Check the collections at Martha Stewart Weddings
  • Have fun: You've waited a long time for this moment

Happy Shopping!
